Our Mission
Our Mission: Youth Help Youth!
We connect young people from around the world, inspiring them to pursue their passions through engaging and meaningful learning experiences (academic and extracurricular).
Our volunteer programs emphasize the development of leadership skills while promoting personal growth, global understanding, and educational equity.
How our Program Runs
C&L Organization recruits both volunteers (based in the United States) and students (in China or the United States) and pairs them for tutoring sessions. Most lessons are conducted one-on-one online, while a limited number may have a 1:3 teacher-to-student ratio or be conducted in person.
All lessons are organized into sessions, with each season comprising 10 lessons. Students participate by making a donation to Connect & Learning. For volunteers, C&L tracks contributed time as well as the funding generated through their efforts. Volunteers are eligible for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA), which C&L Organization facilitates. Additionally, C&L Organization provides documentation of community service hours for volunteers who wish to apply for the PVSA through other certifying organizations.
All funds raised by Connect & Learning are allocated exclusively to the following three categories:
Support for disadvantaged students in the United States: Funds raised through US programs assist students from couchsurfing, migrant, and foster family backgrounds.
Educational support for rural youth in China: All funds collected through the ESL program are used to sponsor students in Sichuan(四川) and Guizhou(贵州) Provinces.
Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) application fees.
It is important to note that all staff and organizers at Connect & Learning are volunteers and do NOT receive any compensation. Additional costs, such as facilities, venues, and meals, are also provided voluntarily by our team without charge.
Why Choose Us
Compared with other volunteering programs, our program offers several distinct advantages, including but not limited to:
Flexibility: The one-on-one tutoring program allows volunteers to choose times that suit their schedules, including the frequency and duration of sessions. Lessons can be rescheduled as needed, with student agreement. Since most courses are conducted online, volunteers save travel time, and all volunteering hours are eligible for the PSVA.
Significant Impact: Our volunteers are primarily middle and high school students, for whom education and knowledge are invaluable. By sharing their skills, volunteers provide meaningful educational support to students and families who need it most.
Personal Growth: Volunteers gain extensive learning opportunities through participation, including teaching and tutoring skills, as well as leadership and commuication development. Activities such as mentoring new volunteers, preparing instructional materials, organizing program tracks, and conducting volunteer training enhance their personal and professional growth.
Learn from Anywhere: With most programs conducted online, volunteers save time on transportation while still contributing effectively to their students' learning.
